IDENTIFYING
SCRIPTURE:
“The righteous man
will flourish like the palm tree. He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They
will still yield fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap and very green.”
Motto: “No Saint left behind” (age 55 and older).
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
The Silver Saints Ministry provides Christ-centered
activities addressing
the spiritual, educational and social needs of men and women in the second half
of life.
AREAS OF
RESPONSIBILITY:
1. Christian fellowship: Maintaining the cohesiveness of the
church family through a wide variety of activities, events and programs.
a)
Various
events for all mature Christians providing food, fellowship, Bible devotions
and special speakers — subjects: health and fitness, medical plans, legal
concerns, state and county senior services.
b)
Fellowship
through bus trips to places of interest.
c)
Fellowship
with other Christian Senior groups.
2. Christian Encouragement: Reinforcing the value of each
individual to God and to the church family through cards, phone calls and small
groups.
a)
Establish
a Senior phone network to keep seniors in touch and to share information promptly.
b)
To
encourage and recognize the youth in the church. “Senior/Junior
Connection” Seniors recognize a teenager
monthly in secret, with a “revealing party” at the end.
c)
Seniors
help to prepare VBS crafts for the children.
3. Christian Friendship: Building positive fulfilling
relationships through home Bible studies and prayer groups.
4. Christian Compassion: Providing physical, emotional and spiritual
support through accountability partnerships.
5. Christian Outreach: Not limiting our focus to members of the
local congregation but responding to
all people as we have opportunity to share the love of Christ.
