WOMEN’S MINISTRY

LADIES BIBLE STUDIES ...
The purpose of these studies is to teach the Word of God so that women can apply its principles to their everyday lives and to provide an atmosphere for honest discoveries and questions. Currently, there is a study held on Thursday’s at 10:30 am.   Studies change, so watch for announcements.  Childcare is provided.

PRAYER BREAKFAST ...
This is a special time for women to get together for a breakfast meal, fellowship and prayer time. "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints" (Ephesians 6:18). These women meet on the 3rd Saturday of every month at 9:00am. There are sign up sheets posted for this and childcare is usually provided.

LIFE LINE ....
Life Line is about LOVE (1 Cor. 13:4-7). It is about Jesus' commandment to love each other as He loved us (John 15:12); to love our neighbor as our self (Matt. 22:39). Our mission is to lean what Christian love is and how to give it in all our relationships.  Along with God's Holy Word, we use Gary Smalley's video series "Loving Relationships" and a book titled "The Blessing" by Gary Smalley and John Trent. We are committed to support and encourage each other through the trials and conflicts that arise from dysfunction.   These meetings are currently being held at the church every other Thursday beginning at 7pm.

CARD MINISTRY ....                                                              This is a ministry to help encourage each other through cards or notes. Those who volunteer for this are put on a schedule and given names of people who need encouragement for various reasons. Cards are a great way to lift someone's spirits.  If you are interested in being involved in this ministry, or if you have any questions, please contact Barbara Wilhelm at 410-551-2798.

SECRET SISTERS ....
For those who participate in the Secret Sister Program, this is a fun time to encourage a sister-in-Christ in secret. Each person is given a name of someone they give to monthly (it doesn't have to be expensive) or to send notes of encouragement. On occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, etc., a special gift is given. The program starts in January and ends with a revealing in November. Tamie & Tina Leasure are the coordinators for this program. REMEMBER, THIS IS ALL DONE IN SECRET!

NEW MOM BASKETS ....
This is a ministry for our new moms. A basket will be put together each time one of our new moms has a baby. This will consist of things for the mother as well as a gift certificate for the baby. An announcement will be put out each time a baby from our congregation is born and contributions will be collected at that time.

EVENTS ….
There are some special events that happen throughout the year. Our LADIES CHRISTMAS BANQUET is a very special evening that we get together to celebrate the birth of Christ. Several women volunteer to host and decorate a table. Each table is decorated differently and beautifully. You won't want to miss it.
Another event is the VALENTINE BANQUET. This is done together with the Youth Ministry as a fund raiser. Dinner is provided for couples for a fee. The ladies provide some of the food while the teens do the serving. This is a evening to spend with someone special and also with other Christian friends.
Also, we have the ALL-DAUGHTERS BANQUET in the spring. This is a special time to spend with your mother, your daughter or a special friend. Remember … we are all daughters.

MUSIC

ADULT CHOIRSCC's Adult Choir welcomes new members with open arms (and voices)! We practice at 3:30 PM on Sunday afternoons.   There are several ways that the Choir uses their voices through song. The Choir regularly helps lead the congregational singing in worship on Sunday mornings. We also prepare musicals for Christmas, Easter season, and other special times. Many times these performances include drama.  Finally, we also prepare music to be sung as specials for use during our Sunday worship service. There are no tryouts for our Choir.   The only requirements are that you want to use your voice to praise God, and that you want to be used by God to encourage and uplift your brothers and sisters in Christ. If you meet those qualifications, then come on out and join our Choir - you're always welcome!

YOUTH CHOIR The Youth Choir (grades 6 through 12) meets on Sunday evenings. We sing exciting contemporary music!  We provide special music on Sunday mornings, work with the Adult Choir for congregational music, and have prepared musicals with themes especially suited for young people. If you would like to get energized, then come join us in the Youth Choir.

PRAISE BAND SCC's Praise Band is a contemporary ensemble that exalts the Lord in our worship services. Our talented musicians currently use their skills on keyboards, guitars, and drums. We practice on Wednesday evenings from 8:30 to 9:30, and again on Sunday mornings from 8:45 to 9:15.

PRAISE TEAM The praise team leads our congregation in worship of the Lord. Its members, selected from our Adult and Youth Choirs, diligently practice with the band on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.

TECH CREW The tech department works behind the scenes, providing audio and video support for our worship services. It takes eleven dedicated people to fully staff the positions required for Sunday services, to say nothing of the work required before Sunday arrives! If you would like to know more, contact Gene edge, our tech department leader.

DRAMA TEAM The Drama team brings us interpretive, thought-provoking messages of God's power in our everyday lives. The team works with our Choirs on musical dramas for special seasons, as well as interpretations specially designed for Sunday worship service. The Drama team meets on Sundays after Evening Service, in the Auditorium. If you would like to learn more, contact Krista Adams, our Drama team leader.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

SOFTBALL … For those more physically inclined, we have two softball teams. A men's team that plays double headers on Monday and Thursday nights and a co-ed team that plays double headers on Friday nights. This is a great chance to get to know your brothers and sisters in a casual environment while playing other area Christian teams for fun and competition. There is competition, but the emphasis is on fun and fellowship.

DOG SHACK … To support our softball teams, we have a refreshment stand called the "Dog Shack" that is open every home game. The stand sells hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, peanuts and other snacks and drinks. It is very easy to operate and you get the best seat at the game. It is also a great way to meet new people as they come to purchase a dog. All proceeds go to maintain the church's softball fiend and the teams. The fellowship is tremendous.

Here are a few more:

HOME BIBLE STUDIES .... consist of small groups ranging from 4 to 8 people. The majority of studies are from the New Testament letters and the Gospels. Secondary studies are from primary resources on Discipleship as researched through the life of Christ and the Apostle Paul. There are four home bible study groups meeting on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Clyde McKinney is the contact person and teacher of these studies.

SUPPORT GROUPS … This ministry is the helping hand and listening ear of Christian friends providing support, encouragement, hope and Biblical answers to those in difficult life situations. These groups meet each Thursday evening at 7pm and address specific life issues in a non-threatening environment. Contacts are John Boswell (Separation and Divorce); Jeff McKinney and Dave McNicholas (Addictions) and Clyde McKinney (Marriage Enrichment).

Wednesday Night Class – This class meets at 6:45pm Wednesday evenings for in-depth Bible study.  Topics have included becoming more Christ-like, “The Case for Christ” by Lee Stroble, moral relativism, evolution, and financial management, all based on the Bible, God’s love letter to all of us.  If you’re interested, and in the 18-25ish age range, feel free to join us!

Activities – There are often movie/game nights planned for this age group, along with occasional trips to theme parks, the aforementioned retreats, and other excursions.  Many in this age group help out with the youth groups and their activities.  These activities are opportunities to have a lot of fun while serving God, the Youth Minister, and the youth themselves.

Youth Group Activities:

Teenagers enjoy being active. In the youth group we do many activities for fun and fellowship. Some of the things we do as a youth group are: attend youth all-night lock-ins; go to amusement parks (King's Dominion, Six Flags America); go bowling, miniature golfing, movie nights, game nights, progressive dinners, group parties, laser tag, pro sporting events, take trips, go hiking, just to name a few; and of course, we work hard for our activities by doing fund raisers, like car washes and pizza sales. Come join us for these activities and be a part of our youth group. There is always room for one more, and that's you.

Wednesday Night Youth Group
A new program has been started for youth 6th-12th grade and it is called “REACH.  Our goal is to lead youth in reaching deeper into the Great Commandment (Matt. 22) and the Great Commission (Matt. 28) in order to be a great church.  REACH is designed to have a balanced schedule for youth that promotes spiritual development in the following areas: Reach Up:  Worship     Reach Around: Fellowship     Reach Down:  Ministry     Reach Out:  Evangelism   Reach In:  Discipleship

REACH will include dynamic worship with the youth band, cultural communication, video enhancement, team building, rewards store, invigorating activities, sports.

The Sunday evening event for youth is called D-Groups (Disciple Groups) and meets at 5pm.  This is for all youth 6th-12th grades.  There are D-Groups and after each series of age / gender divided group lessons, we will have a SWAT activity (nursing home visit, service project, outreach, fun activity, etc.).

Junior Church
In the Jr. Church, 1st - 5th graders gather on Sunday mornings from 10:30am - 12:00pm to worship and praise God. While mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle, and older brothers and sisters are in the main auditorium worshipping God, we are in the Jr. Church room worshipping God on our level. We learn about the importance of worship and about the proper ways to worship God. We sing songs, pray, give our offerings, learn about the Lord's Supper and participate in remembrance of Jesus Christ, and we learn lessons that are designed just for our age group. We study about Jesus' life, the travels of Paul, learn about Old Testament men and women like Abraham, Moses, Ruth, Noah, David, and Esther. We have a great time in Jr. Church playing games and having fun together and at the same time we are learning wonderful lessons to help us as we grow. We hope you will come and join us for a time of learning and fun, KID STYLE. And bring MOM and DAD (and everyone else in the family).
