SCC ANNOUNCEMENTS Today is Wednesday July 9, 2008
THIS WEEK:
WEDNESDAY SERVICE TONIGHT 6:45 pm. Many hands are needed to wash the windows and doors of the building, as well as to work outside around the farmhouse. If you have a shovel, a weedwacker, edge trimmer or wheelbarrow, please bring them with you as we will need them to do outside work. Come and help lighten the workload by lending a hand to make our church ready for VBS Next Wednesday evening, July 16, we will set up for the VBS carnival.
GUEST SPEAKER – This Sunday, July 13, Lee Mason from The Christian Restoration Association in Cincinnati, Ohio, will be bringing the morning message at SCC and giving an update of the CRA to the adults during Sunday School. The CRA is one of the missions supported by SCC. This ministry publishes the “Restoration Herald Magazine” each month, gives smaller loans to churches, publishes some books, and offers non-credited Bible correspondence classes to interested students. All adult Sunday School classes will meet in the auditorium this Sunday.
MINISTRY LEADERS MEETING THIS SUNDAY – The quarterly Ministry Leaders meeting will be held this Sunday, July 13, following morning worship, in room B1. If you have not submitted your ministry report, please send a copy to the office.
LADIES’ CRAFT GROUP will meet at 1:00 pm., in the Junior Church this Sunday, July 13.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL – This Sunday, July 13, please make note of the following: 1. VBS T-shirt payment is due. 2. Presale of VBS Carnival tickets will take place in the front foyer immediately following morning worship ONLY! Tickets are 25¢ and for every $5 that is spent, you will receive an additional four tickets. 3. Pre-registration for VBS begins. Each child needs to be registered. Parents please stop by the table in the front foyer to register your children.
CALLING ALL MIDDLE AND SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH: You are needed for an all-youth cast for the VBS Thursday’s drama. Please join us in the auditorium for practice this Sunday, July 13 (2:30-4:00 pm), Thursday, July 17 (6:30-9:00 pm, and Sunday, July 20 (12:30-2:00 pm). Contact Cyndi Ingram for additional information.
SILVER SAINTS are having a VBS Crafts Luncheon on Wednesday, July 16, at 10:00 a.m. Come and help prepare crafts for the Vacation Bible School kids. Sign up on the bulletin board and bring a food item to share.
UPCOMING WEEKS:
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL CARNIVAL – Our VBS carnival will take place on Saturday, July 19 with the VBS program July 20-25 each evening. The closing program will be held on Sunday evening, July 27. Chuck Phillips, a missionary to the Ukraine, will be our missionary. As you know, many volunteers are needed for VBS. Please see the bulletin board and sign up if you can help in any of the many areas. Contact Carl Collins for more information.
MEALS NEEDED – We will need dinner meals for Chuck Phillips, our missionary for VBS, to be served in the member’s home or at a restaurant by 5:15 pm on July 21, 22, 24, and 25. Lunch and dinner meals are also needed on July 26. The lunch meals will be taken care of by a staff member each day. Please let the office know what meal you would like to provide. Many thanks.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY WORK DAY - July 26. The work day starts at 8:00 am and finishes no later than 5:00 pm. The Habitat work day scheduled for August 9 has been rescheduled for August 16 due to a Home Dedication. Everyone is invited to attend the Home Dedication on August 9. Details about the time and place are posted on the Benevolence Ministry Bulletin Board. Sign up sheets for work days are located on the bulletin board. UPCOMING EVENTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS:
SILVER SAINTS “Crab Feast Adventure” Suicide Bridge, Thursday, August 14. All you can eat “BIG Crabs” and fixings, 3 hrs aboard the Paddle Wheel Dorothy Megan. See details for sign-up on the Silver Saints bulletin board (across from Clyde’s office). Full payment at time of sign-up! Cost: Adults - $59; children under 10 - $30. Bus departs 10:00 am; boards at 1:00 pm; returns to SCC at 6:30 pm.
TEACHERS AND HELPERS - Just a reminder that all who serve in the children’s worship services can receive a complimentary audio CD of the sermon. To receive your copy, please, sign up on the sheet located outside Scott’s office. Be sure to include the date you served. Scott will have the CD ready the following Wednesday.
SUMMERTIME REVIVAL (a worship service for adults) and cross-training for youth will begin the last Wednesday of July and run through August on Wednesday evenings.
PRAYER CHAIN – We are currently updating the prayer chain. Please contact Millie Campion, our secretary, and let her know if you wish your name to be added to or deleted from the prayer chain.
NCEON – The next collection of pantry items will be on Sunday, July 27. Thanks to all who contribute food and time to support this community need. .
